Earthly Riches

Ecclesiastes 5:10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

God’s Word is true.  A person that works to obtain earthly wealth will not be satisfied by the wealth he has made.  Neither will a person be happy when they increase what they have.  A person may be happy for a short time.  However, they will find that whatever material things that were obtained do not satisfy.

It’s funny how we can buy something and get so excited as if somehow the item we bought is just going to enhance our lives so much more.  After a little while, it’s not in use or put to the wayside.

Consider who wrote Ecclesiastes- King Solomon.  He grew in abundance of wealth and kept nothing from himself that he didn’t desire.  But then he writes in Ecclesiastes 2:11, Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there is no profit under the sun.

There is no profit under the sun.  Our true goal is to seek Christ and his righteousness.

The Bible says in Colossians 3:2 set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. The things on earth are temporal and will pass away.  The Lord wants our affection and he will give us what we need.

Have you set your eyes on the material things of this world?  As the Bible says, these things will never satisfy.  As usual, we like to participate in Frugal Friday. For more tips,  hop on over to Crystal’s blog.
